The Quay Cottage Shower, Clifden, Ireland
At First Glance: Again only
one bathroom, with only a bathtub. The “showerhead” hung a few inches above the
bathtub rim – not good! Reading the house’s instructions, we learned that the
recommended way to get clean was to take a bath. Ugh!
Shower Power: There was no shower power, as it was not a shower. However, the bathwater came out somewhat strong, a lovely green color, too!
Hot or Not?: Not at all hot! Freezing cold water, made colder by the absolutely icy air whistling through the cracks of the house’s dreadfully insulated walls. Sounds inviting, doesn’t it?
What Made it Nice: We were not forced to use these unpleasant facilities. Our stay here was short enough that some of us just went a day and a half without showering, waiting until our next house.
What Made it Not-So-Nice: Bathing in freezing cold, green-colored water in a filthy bathtub in a frigid little cottage – not fun!
