700 Jackson Dr. Upstairs Shower, Williamsburg, VA

January 3, 2011

At First Glance: A red shower curtain – with pockets! Way cool, and tiled shower walls too!

Shower Power: Alright, but hopeless if someone else is showering downstairs.

Hot or Not?: Again, almost decent, unless, of course, someone else is showering downstairs.

What Made it Nice: Generally wonderful, and fluffy and clean towels to boot!

What Made it Not-So-Nice: NO shower caddy, NO hooks, NO benches, NO counterspace

Overall Rating: 7 out of 10

American Heritage RV Park Showers, Williamsburg, VA

January 3, 2011

At First Glance: Oh my goodness! Tiled walls, floors, and showers! I want to take a picture of these showers, they’re so amazing! (I didn't, by the way…sorry!)

Shower Power: Wow! Amazing! So mighty!

Hot or Not?: Plenty hot, even though several of us were showering at the same time! Imagine!

What Made it Nice: It was spacious, well-stocked, warm, well-decorated, sauna/spa-like. So heavenly!

What Made it Not-So-Nice: Only one bench, and not exactly a lot of hooks.

Holiday TRAV-L-PARK Showers, Virginia Beach, VA

December 22, 2010

At First Glance: Nice and roomy! Cute painted metal decorations of a mermaid and a seahorse on the walls. Lotsa’ hooks and a big long low bench outside the shower stalls. But why only two showers in the women’s “Comfort Station”, when the men’s next door “Comfort Station” has four showers?

Shower Power: WOW! Mighty! Almost too powerful! Abby thought it was too much, but I quite enjoyed the feeling of it pounding on my head. It made me feel cleaner somehow!

Hot or Not?: Plenty ...

Duncan Family Campground Showers, Lothian, MD

December 19, 2010

At First Glance: Same as before, except worse.

Shower Power: Pathetic. Apparently, too many people trying to shower at the same time.

Hot or Not?: Hot enough at the beginning, but then tepid, then frigid. Not fun.

What Made it Nice: We got clean, and it was familiar to us, because we had showered here for a week before this time.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: Not as comfortable as in the past.

Overall Rating: 6 out of 10

Note: We visited these showers before, only this time they were...

Small Country Campground Showers, Louisa, VA

December 19, 2010

At First Glance: Very spacious, nice, white, and clean.

Shower Power: Quite lovely. Worthy of praise.

Hot or Not?: Very hot! Not easily adjusted to the perfect temperature, but bearably too hot. J

What Made it Nice: Heated, spacious showers and changing areas. Shelves inside showers, benches outside showers, and four double hooks near the entrance to the bathrooms.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: Not cleaned after every use. Also, a few insects during the season when most normal bugs have die...

Harrisonburg/Shenandoah Valley KOA Showers, Broadway, VA

December 15, 2010

At First Glance: Hallelujah! Heated, sparkling clean, impeccable, spacious showers all to ourselves! And it’s all free!

Shower Power: Practically perfect! But the water came straight at you from the center back of the shower.

Hot or Not?: Scarcely less than scalding hot, which was well received on our goosebumps!

What Made it Nice: The interior decorating, the cleanliness, the double hooks, shelf, bench, shower caddy, bath mat, stools , and this amazing propane-powered heat device that ...

Duncan Family Campground Showers, Lothian, MD

December 15, 2010

At First Glance: Eight shower-toilet combination rooms on either side of a rectangular-shaped building. Very outdoorsy and camp-like. Dirty floors and small showers. White everything.

Shower Power: Reasonable. Some showers had showerheads with several settings for the water flow.

Hot or Not?: Plenty hot, unless all six of us tried to shower at the same time. When that happened, nobody got hot water or any decent shower power.

What Made it Nice: Five double hooks and a stool on which to p...

Quality Inn & Suites Shower, Wilmington, DE

November 30, 2010

At First Glance: Oh my socks! A bathtub big enough to swim in! With jets, too!

Shower Power: Weird. It was fine if we took off the showerhead (which we could do very easily) and held it right next to our own head. It was lots of water coming out of lots of holes, which didn’t provide a whole lot of force. And the bath water came out of an arching silver faucet about six inches wide and half an inch tall. It was like a steady miniature waterfall. Very nice.

Hot or Not?: Wonderfully hot, o...

Oma Janssen’s Shower, Wyckoff, NJ

November 30, 2010

At First Glance: Spacious, clean and well-decorated. It even has a bathtub attached to it!

Shower Power: Fantastic!

Hot or Not?: Wonderfully hot.

What Made it Nice: Showering in the same shower for a week!

What Made it Not-So-Nice: The shower leaked a bit into the basement, but Daddy fixed that with a bit of caulk. Yay Mr. Fix-it!

Timberlane Campground Showers, Clarksboro, NJ

November 30, 2010

At First Glance: Gross salmon-colored stalls. Somewhat warm inside, somewhat spacious.

Shower Power: Somewhere between half-decent and pathetic. We had to push a button to make the water come out, and it only came out for about twenty seconds before we had to push it again. So we tried just holding in the button, but it’s really hard to shower one-handed. Try it sometime – it’s hilarious.

Hot or Not?: Not. No temperature adjustment knobs anywhere. Cold to tepid water, often changing ...
