Chewonki Campground Showers, Wiscasset, ME

October 16, 2010

At First Glance: Two very small showers, 25 ¢ for eight minutes – not bad.

Shower Power: Adjustable pressure. At first mine was pathetic, but I figured out that I could adjust it to be harder, and then it was wonderful.

Hot or Not?: Wonderfully hot, awesome because it was so cold outside.

What Made it Nice: The amazing heat and pressure. Also, a whole ton of changing space with a row of eleven hooks and a long shelf, as well as more double hooks on other walls.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: Not very private. The screen door was transparent, so outsiders could see right into the common changing area. And we did have to pay for it, even if it was amazing.

Overall Rating: 8 out of 10

Bar Harbor Campground Showers, Bar Harbor, ME

October 16, 2010

At First Glance: Four relatively spacious showers, two on each end. Disgusting bugs on the ceiling, but kept to themselves. Benches, hooks, and small shelves in the shower.

Shower Power: Good pressure.

Hot or Not?: Good heat, after a short wait.

What Made it Nice: Grates on the floor that separated us from all the excess water.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: We had to spend the first few seconds of your five minutes per quarter waiting for the water to warm up.

Living Waters Campground Showers, Twin Mountain, NH

October 16, 2010

At First Glance: Small, clean-ish, nice flowered wall tiles, also decorative moose shower curtain separating bathroom from changing area.

Shower Power: OK, unless other people were trying to shower at the same time.

Hot or Not?: Wonderfully hot, which was good because it was freezing outside.

What Made it Nice:  Two little built-in shelves and a shower caddy just outside the shower, which was weird, but still plenty useful. And wooden-topped stools with cold metal legs for putting your s...

Lost River Valley Showers, North Woodstock, NH

October 8, 2010

At First Glance: When we first walked in, I thought hey were very nice because of the granite walls, but then I realized that was the wallpaper. Loved the soft rugs just outside each shower, and they looked nice too. Not incredibly spacious, but some had benches. Also long shelf and long bench outside shower stalls.

Shower Power: Not remarkable.

Hot or Not?: Properly labeled temperature adjusters, but not much difference between really hot and really cold.

What Made it Nice: Little dent ...

Cascade Campground Showers, Loudon, NH

October 6, 2010

At First Glance: White, neat, clean, not very spacious. No special decorations. Nothing fancy. L

Shower Power: In Lindsey’s words, “It’s not amazing, but…” it works.

Hot or Not?: Two of the three showers were hot. The third never got hot, as Mom and Abby discovered the hard way. The other two were (again, in Lindsey’s words) “almost too hot, but that’s a good thing.”

What Made it Nice: Cleanliness is always a blessing. And we were the only ones there. And there were two ...

Mascoma Lake Campground Showers

October 5, 2010

At First Glance: Cute lacy blue curtains and ivy sticker decorations. Nice enough, clean enough, big enough.

Shower Power: Perfect. We wanted no more and no less.

Hot or Not?: Under normal circumstances, I would say unbearably hot, but we were so cold that any hot was a good hot, even if it was actually probably not so good. So amazingly boiling hot. Fabulous.

What Made it Nice: The warmth and power, as well as a large area for changing, conveniently located within the restrooms and not ...

Green Valley RV Park Showers

October 5, 2010

At First Glance: Small, dark, damp, smells musty, cute tiling on lower part of changing room in showers.

Shower Power: Pathetic.

Hot or Not?: Hot, but only if we turned it all the way.

What Made it Nice: Two very tiny shelves, but a nice big shower caddy.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: Water left me feeling sticky.

Brookwood RV Resort Showers, Ticonderoga, NY

September 30, 2010

At First Glance: Woody rustic feel, decent in cleanliness, spacious, lots of convenient hooks, chairs, benches, even the world’s best shower caddy! Too bad we had to pay for it.

Shower Power: Great, but we had to pay for it.

Hot or Not?: At first cold, then sizzlin’ hot, then just right, but then again, we had to pay for it.

What Made it Nice: It was hot, and we hadn’t showered in a while, so any shower would have been appreciated.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: The drain kept backin...

Niagara Falls North KOA Showers

September 27, 2010

At First Glance: So very clean! What a blessing! Only a few bugs and a couple cracks in the floor. The stall doors were a lovely periwinkle blue.

Shower Power: When all six of us demanded water at the same time, it got pretty pathetic. It was absolutely nothing compared to the shower we got under Niagara Falls on the Maid of the Mist boat tour and Cave of the Winds Bridal Veil Falls tour.

Hot or Not?: Wonderfully hot, and temperature adjuster correctly labeled too!

What Made it Nice: Two...

Evangola State Park Campground Showers

September 27, 2010

At First Glance: In a word, gross. But I like to use more than one word, so I’ll be more descriptive. There were lots of bugs and spiders and the showers, floors, walls and ceilings were dirty and unclean and disgusting.

Shower Power: Shower #1 was just a wide spray of water which went everywhere; shower #2 had an actual showerhead, but the water flow was pathetic.

Hot or Not?: Shower #2 was freezing cold, and only cold. Shower #1 was relatively hot.

What Made it Nice: Shower #2 had a ...
