At First Glance: Just a niche in the wall – no linoleum, tile, or anything, just blue paint on the walls, ceiling, and floor. No shower curtain, either, and no mount for the shower head. Also, no soap dish, no shelves, nothing. It was the simplest shower I have ever encountered.

Shower Power: Splendid, actually, because we had control over how close the showerhead was to our own heads. It could be pretty powerful if we held it close to the scalp, or very weak, if we let it trickle down to us from far away.

Hot or Not?: Plenty hot, actually, but still we must take military showers.

What Made it Nice: It was simple, straightforward, to the point. I don’t think I’ve ever had a simple shower like this. It made me feel almost downright Amish. And it was still good in terms of pressure and temperature – no complaints there. This shower taught me a lesson: they don’t have to have everything to be enjoyable.

What Made it Not-So-Nice: The effort that went into keeping the water in the shower as opposed the dousing the entirety of the bathroom. We’re just not used to having to pay attention to where the water goes in our shower. And the entertaining challenge of trying to shower one-handedly.
